Default Eye-Fi SD Card

Anyone else have one?
I got my new Eye-Fi Connect X2 yesterday and so far the only thing I DO NOT like is the inability to WiFi RAW files.
The one thing I really like....
With my Jailbroken iPhone I can use MyWi app to make my iPhone a WiFi hotspot and upload the pics back to my home PC while I am shooting via AT&T 3G service.
At least all the jpegs will be on my PC when I get home then I can look thru them and choose which RAW files I want to transfer over and PP.

Now THAT is clever. I never considered bouncing the signal through a mobile hotspot. I've considered getting one for home shooting since the K-7 doesn't tether, but using a mobile hotspot makes that a lot more appealing!

A local photog friend got one and she loves it. I guess there are different levels of the card because she mentioned how she liked that she could send the RAW files too.

The more Expensive PRO version will upload RAW files. It's like $150 for a 8GB version. My Connect X2 4GB was only $50.

I saw these just this week on the website of a company I'm using to hire a dye-sub printer for an event I'm covering. I haven't looked into them in any detail yet, but it does appeal to me, on the grounds of being WAY cheaper than the Canon wi-fi solution.

Is it possible to use it to transfer files across a Wifi network direct to a PC or laptop without having to send them through the eye-fi peoples' servers? It does seem a little silly if I'm at home, to connect my laptop and my camera to the same Wifi network, and have to send everything up to some web-based server and then download them back to the lappy..

Yes the PRO version supports AdHoc connections to your WiFi/PC http://www.eye.fi/products/prox2

Is it safe to assume you are using the X2 with the Canon gear in your signature? I'm having a hell of a time getting an Eye-Fi X2 to work with a CF adapter, and the internet is really spotty about which adapters do and don't work with which Eye-Fi models. Do you know what make & model your adapter is? I was starting to worry that the newish X2s wouldn't work in CF adapters at all.

They don't claim to work with CF card adapters - hence when I'm having to buy an entire new camera body The PRO cards do do RAW - it's the ones I'm having to get lols

Just to get this straight. I'm going for the PRO cards mainly due to the adhoc. But if I setup a local network with a router is that going to be sufficient to do instant transfers with the X2 cards? Also whats the transfer times? I want shoot 3 shots, clients walks to laptop, choses pics and prints on demand.

I tryed one of these a while ago (maybe a couple years), and had a terible time with it. Half the pictures wouldn't even end up where they were supposed to be after the upload.

BUT, I'm thinking that over time they've inproved everything.

I love the idea of the picture going directly to the camera right after snaping the shot... Using Eye-Fi, do I have to stop the shoot and do something in camera to send it to my computer, or is it automatic?

Is there any other way to have the image sent right to my laptop (ie. some sort of cable and software)?

I have a Nikon D90 & D80

Thank you for your time.
