Default Safety first

Jail for man who shot girlfriend while posing for pic - Story - National - 3 News

I know we've had discussions before on gun safety during photography, but it seems like some people insist on needing reminders.

That, or this guy figured out the ultimate way to get mostly away with murder.

Holy snot! Ultimate dumbass move that resulted in tragedy. My heart goes out to the girl's family.

Hat off to the photographer that got the pic of him in court. He managed to capture dull, brainless rock ape perfectly. Although he could have curved it a little better ....

Somehow I have a hard time believing it was an accident. Loaded, safety off, finger on the trigger, while posing for a picture? Nobody is THAT stupid.

Edit: I like the story at the bottom of the page about the guy that claims he didn't know what a $ symbol meant, yet makes $150,000 a year.

Go to a shooting range once, you may just change your mind. I love firearms but I respect them, and it amazes me when I see people that do not understand the responsibility of having one in their hands. This is a sad story, an obviously wholly preventable one at that.

I agree... people are that stupid! When I was learning to shoot (a gun) we had a girl on our team who when the gun got jammed, proceeded to SHAKE it, while repeatedly pressing the trigger then looking down the barrel to see why it wasn't shooting. THEN as if that weren't enough, she pointed it at the officer teaching us (who was rushing to her to take it away!) and said, Do you see what's wrong with it?!

yeah she was kicked off the range... People are STUPID!!!

Ms Henderson died on December 4 last year as Goldstone posed for a series of pictures with a sawn-off shotgun which police said he had acquired for their protection.

She had asked him to pose after he got the loaded shotgun from an attic space where it had been stored.

Ms Henderson took several pictures with her digital camera, showing Goldstone with his finger resting on the trigger as he pointed the shotgun at the camera.
I feel bad for the family but she knew what she was photographing when she did it, she knew it was loaded, his finger was on the trigger and it was pointed at her. It even said she asked him to do it all. Even with the safety on this is dangerous since even that is not 100%.

The article, as I read it, only stated that HE knew it was loaded...not that she knew. That being said, the first rule for handling firearms is EVERY weapon is loaded. The 2nd rule is not to point it at anything you do not wish to destroy. My son is only 6 and he already knows these two rules.
