Downloading Problems

I have a Canon Rebel Xsi (I have the Japanese version so it actually says Kiss X2 on it). I can view the pictures on my SD card through connecting my cable to the computer but when I try to transfer images using Zoom Browser EX the program flashes but wont open then the a box pops up and says it can't recognize my camera. What is happening? Why? And how can I fix this problem?

Please someone help. I am not good with computers and googling the problem or trouble shooting on the Canon support website was not helpful.

UPDATE: I am so tired and frustrated I wrote the wrong program name that is not working it is the EOS Utility program that is flashing and then the computer wont recognize my camera when it is connected to the cable.

My guess would be that the zoombrowser program you're using does not support that camera.

Check the the software's website and see if there is an update. If there's not then you may just have to a different method to transfer the images.

edit: like CheaperKings you could use a card reader (but of course not everyone has a card reader on their computer). Or I suppose you could just pull them off manually.

You can't just pull the SD card out of the camera and stick it in the computer? That's what I do...

You can get a USB card reader for a pretty trivial cost. I think I paid $5 for mine.

Card readedr are the best and quickest method of downloading images to the computer. Not with those those cables and software supplied that comes with the cameras. Using those is slooooooooooooooooowwwwwwwww process.
