Cool Salt lake city, ut

Hey Everyone! I would like to introduce myself... My name is Marie and I am new the the forum and photography. I am loving every bit of it. A lot of you and you photography inspire me to be even better so I thank you.

I do have a question for any one who has taken pictures in the salt lake area... My cousin has asked me to take maternity pictures of her. She would like studio and outdoors. Could anyone tell me of some beautiful spots to capture her at in Salt lake or surrounding area?

Also does anyone have any pointers for maternity portraits? This will be my first time doing them so anything helps.

Thanks again

There is always a stack of information on niches, such as maternity, available on the web and on this site. Best advice I can give is spend a lot of time looking at others' images. I learn more by examining other 'tog's work than I do by reading.

As far as finding a location to shoot in, when I'm faced with an unfamiliar location, and can't easily get to it in advance, I usually either hit Google images, or go to Flickr and search for tags associated with the site. I recently had to travel to Chicago for a shoot and though the client had decided on Millenium Park, I'd never been there, nor could I pop over to scope it out. 30 minutes on Flickr, I had dozens of ideas to use when I got there.

Hope that helps!

Marie,

Take a drive up the canyons there are plenty of spots where you can get some really nice photos, where your cousin won't have to walk far, there is one spot that comes to mind it's up Little Cottonwood Canyon called Red Pine Lake Trail, where the trails start are some nice areas near the water. (Google Red Pine Lake Trail and you can get directions to it)

You can also have look at Liberty or Sugar House Parks or any of the local parks near by.

I even see folks doing shoots at The Gateway downtown, in the evenings.

HTH

thanks a ton. I'll check all of those places out. I've been searching online like crazy. I think I might have found a couple of beautiful spots.
