Default Just bought the Canon 550D yesterday

Hi everyone. I'm a new owner of the Canon 550D, which I bought just yesterday. I haven't had the time to sit down with it, but I'm just looking around for things to take pictures of. The most I've been able to do with it right now is change the shutter speed and see what happens in different conditions of lights. I have to say, this is really an awesome camera.

Congrats on your purchase. It's a fantastic camera. A word of warning though, you will grow tired of the kit lens very soon. So while you're shooting with it, make a mental note of it's short comings, i.e. the situations where your kit lens doesn't allow you to do what you want, so when you have enough $$$ saved up, you'll know exactly what lens to buy and save yourself the trouble of starting a 'What lens should I buy next' thread. Happy shooting.

Is this your first camera? I guess so...

I would suggest you start to learn how to properly clean camera and lens.
I found many people do it wrong and break the expensive lens all the time.

Lesson 0: how to hold the camera. It was in that part of the manual you skipped that has the idiotic idiot-proofing and "here's how you plug in the charger" instructions.

Seriously. You've no idea the number of newbies I see doing it wrong whenever I go out for a shoot at the zoo. Your left hand should be supporting the majority of the camera/lens combination weight, not lying on top of the lens.
