Default HELP! - Lightroom

I have just installed Windows7 ultimate x64 and Lightroom 3 beta 2 x64

I want to import my main image files (around 100gig) and start using lightroom as my full workflow and photo management tool.

the problem is that Lightroom is not seeing any of the image folders on my C drive but can see the same folders on my external drive.

If I use the "show in explorer option, the files are just not there, but if I use explorer outside of lightroom, the files are there.

any ideas?

When you choose File->import photos from disk... you can't navigate the folder?

Is this the first time you have tried to import? If not...in Library mode, do you see the folder in the tree. If yes, right click on it and syncronize. See if that imports them.

Good luck.

Found it-
For some reason the file copied to the USER called "public" yet showed in MY PICTURES folder.
Clearly a Win7 anomaly I am going to have to watch out for.

You're looking at two different areas.

Windows Explorer is looking at the "Pictures" area (C:\\Pictures). Lightroom is looking at Recent Places. Recent Places will only show the directories that you've been in. So, if you haven't navigated INTO "2010, 2009, Ella or 2008," etc they won't show up there.
