Talking How do you travel?

We know lens caps are meant to protect both ends of the lens. How do you carry your lenses in your bag - with or without the lens caps? I have always used the caps but have lately been toying with the idea of going commando.

I haven't had the problem of them loosening....but I put them on pretty tightly. My husband accuses me of having "man hands" when it comes to my photography equipment, LOL.

WHY would you ever want to not put the lens caps on?? Would you not put your child in a proper car seat??

I think your name is a good indication of what could eventually happen to your lenses...

A few photojournalists I know will often travel without caps, mainly because it might save them a few vital seconds in changing lenses which might make the difference between getting and not getting THE shot.

My lenses travel caps-on except for the rare occasion when I carry a third lens in a belt pouch when I'm shooting weddings - it saves me time (as above) but also means I can changes lenses without dropping anything or having to rely on holding things between my knees

It's something I very rarely do though.

How true!

Lens caps............I don't sue them, that'f what a filter is for.protector your lens. By the time you've raise your camera, taken off the cap....I've already gotten the picture

I agree with Jim. That's what the UV filter is for, also, I use the lens hood.

Screw caps on while travelling obv. Wish they made clip ons for the rear like they do for the front.

what about the rear cap? I can flick off the front cap pretty quick, it's that back cap that takes a bit more work...you don't carry around your lenses without a rear cap do you?
