When I shoot I have my camera setup for RAW and low quality jpegs. The jpegs are used for quick postings on-line etc. with little or no editing.
Is there a way to quickly separate the RAW from the jpgs? thx |

Every thumbnail viewer or organiser I've seen lets you sort and/or select files by type/extention. You may need to check the help in the program you use to find out how, as some have a visible button and in others it's buried somewhere in the menu system. They can then be moved, if's that's what you want to do.
If you use a card reader to download from the camera you can separate them at the source, download one type and then the other to different folders. That might even be possible if you download directly from the camera with manufacturer software but I've never used that software. |

I've done the card to PC route, which works OK, except for the way the files show. RAW, jpeg, Raw, jpeg, etc. But that's not too bad.
I'm working on learning Lightroom which does the things you mentioned, so that's where I'll concentrate on doing what I want to do. I've found loads of "learn Lightroom" sites, so I've got plenty of resources. Thanks for the help. |

Card to Pc:
If you mean Windows Explorer, you'll need to be in "Detail" view. That's under the "View" menu option. Files will be shown with a few details, one file to a line. Open the card folder and you'll see the file details, and on top the Naam, Size, Type bars plus a few others. Click on the Type bar. Files will sort by type, jpg first, then raw or the other way around. Last edited by Vagebond; 05-12-2010 at 09:54 PM. |
