Default camera clubs

Anybody participate in a camera club? I just found one for my area, and I want to check them out. What can should I expect? Will I be out of place with a point and shoot?

I've recently joined one (at end of March) and really enjoy it! The quality is just astonishing! I've learnt so much re composition: balance, perspective, angles and natural lighting.

They hold regurlar competitions agains other towns but I am not brave enough to submit a photo because I'm afraid of only scoring a 1 or 2. Everyone else gets between 7-10. Maybe in September after the summer break I'll throw caution to the wind and enter one just for good measure.

You won't be out of place with a point and shoot after all its photography that you are sharing with like minded people regardless of the camera you are using.
