Question Great landscapes in Europe, where to go?

Hi guys, I hope this is the right place. I am planning a trip around europe for 1 month. I am currently studying at france. I want to check out the major highlights but would also like to take some sweet landscapes. I was thinking about the alps in Switzerland and castles in germany.

Any other suggestions?

Swiss Alps definitely a good shout, also Tuscany in Italy is beautiful. It's not the typical thing but Scandinavia I think has some breathtaking scenery, I know that Norway at least has some very nice landscapes (although it's also very pricey).
Also in the UK, the Lake District and Scottish Highlands. That's about all I can come up with for now, hope it helps.

I'll add the Ardennes in Belgium, the Brecon Beacons in Wales and in the UK also, the Northumberland National park is nice too, especially if you like castles and a nice rugged coastline. Nuchswanstein castle (SP??) in Germany is stunning.

Just don't go to holland. Its a bit flat.

Infact you can even find some spectacular landscapes there. There are landscapes anywhere in the Europe. My recomendation would probably be the jurassic coast in the south of England. Some of the best sea scapes and rugged coast lines in the world.

Just a few thoughts.

Bernese Oberland in Switzerland.

Bavaria in Germany.
If you love castles, Burg Eltz, in Germany

Salzkammergut region in Austria

The lake district in northern Italy.

I'll second the Scottish highlands... I left a piece of my heart in Scottland.

Stick a pin in the map. You are spoilt for choice in europe. Whichever country you choose will have something worthy of a photo hunt. If you want the coast, then you can't beat Britain, places like the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, or others already mentioned. Southern Germany is what I would describe as chocolate box scenery, stunningly beautiful river valleys with castles and chalets with carved gothic writing on their wooden beams, flowers cascading off their verandas (great wine too). The Alps cover Austria , Italy and France, Tuscany is a shoot all of its own. Greece for ancient monuments in spectacular locations ( best in early spring or octoberish to avoid the crowds). Inland Spain is also spectacular, Madrid being the highest capital in Europe, is surrounded with great scenery, right down to the plains.

So, throw your dart and set off to where the point takes you.

I absolutely agree.

South Italy also has quite a lot of stunning landscapes...
