Default Sending Photographs

I took some photographs of a band at a concert, and I really just wanted the band to have access to them. I was going to send them the hi-res photos over the internet, but due to file constraints in an email (even multiple zip files) it would take a lot of time. Is there anyway to zip the files in one or two zip files and post them somewhere where they will be able to access them?

A zip file won't do much to compress jpegs since they are already compressed.

You could get a site like flickr and post the photos there.

I use Snapfish.com for my hi-res photos when I want others to see them. It takes a while, but certainly doesn't take as long as trying to get them out in an email. Gives the recipient an opportunity to order prints to their liking, too.

don't send high res.......only 72dpi. If they want high res, then sell them a disk of 20 or so images for XXXXX.

I wasn't intending on selling them the photos, but I guess in order to save time and less uploads I would prefer to convert the images to 72 dpi. How would I accomplish this? Just use a batch action in photoshop?

you'd have to make an action or just go into Image - size and change the DPI to 72 on each one. So, if you give them a high res and they like it and ends up on a CD cover, that's money out of your own pocket. Internet isn't too slow, only if have is dial up.

I use drop.io often for smaller batches of files.

You can also easily upload them to flickr.

You don't seem to care about business opportunity but you could also have a few prints made and physically send them.

I know more than one person who gave away a few photos to a band/act and later had a publicist contact them about doing a four-figure shoot. There's also the selling prints angle; tell the band they can use your images if they link to your site/whatever, and sell prints from there. Thinking longterm can often return way more revenue than a one-off sale from a few lucky shots.
