Hello,
I just joined the DPS forums about 5 mins ago and was in search for some advice. The Digital Rev online shop was advertised on DPS so I decided to have a look. Prices seem quite cheap and it seems that all products come with a 12 month warranty. The company is based in Hong Kong. Just wondering if anyone had ever ordered anything from there and how things had worked out. Are they reliable? Here's the link: Home - DSLR, Digital and Film Cameras (incl. Pro Cameras), Lenses and Accessories - DigitalRev Thanks. |

ResellerRatings is not impressed with them, though there are no recent reviews:

I bought a camera bag from DigitalRev and I'm really pleased with it. Got the idea from the video that Sime posted. £15 for the bag and £7 postage. Not bad considering its all the way from Hong Kong!

The "12 month warranty" is a sham, it is a "seller's warranty" not a genuine manufacturer's warranty, so if something goes wrong with your camera you have to send it back to Hong Kong for their "independent technicians" to assess. The only problem is, the "independent technician" is just the cheapest (read: dodgiest) Hong Kong street technician they can find. Without fail, they will refuse all warranty claims and say it was found "not to be a manufacturing defect" and refuse to refund or fix any repairs. Good luck trying to argue with them otherwise, because they will ignore your emails thereafter.
In a nutshell this is what happened to me: I bought a Sony digital camera from them on ebay earlier this year (2011) and have had major issues ever since. Screen came scratched, so I sent back under warranty within a week. They came back and claimed "non-manufacturing defect", and at first I thought it was just a genuine mistake so I pressed for a reason and asked them to send the inspection report. The "inspection report" is actually just a quote from the "independent technician" and does not actually say how the damage was assessed or what they actually looked at. Furious, I argued my point but they just ignored all my emails. I paid the $50 postage fee to have my camera sent back, thinking at least it's still functional so I'll let the scratched screen slide. 2 months later, my "waterproof" camera was found to not be waterproof after all when I took it under water. Water seeped all the way into the camera because the battery compartment lid does not close properly. So away my camera went again back to Hong Kong for repairs "under warranty" and again, they claimed "not manufacturing defect". Once more all emails were ignored and let's be honest, these guys are in Hong Kong and there's not much I can do as an Australian customer half way across the world. It's my word against theirs and if they choose not to honour their "12 month warranty" then I can't sue them under my local jurisdiction. So that's it, I've lost about $500 all up but I've made it my mission to see to it that these dodgy buggers don't rip off another cent from unsuspecting customers. And Don't be fooled by their uber friendly customer service staff or cheery website either, they communicate with you oh so politely but can turn nasty very quickly when something goes wrong. You have been warned, don't make the same mistake I made! |

I've never bought anything from them, but if this is the same company that does the reviews on Youtube (with Kai and Lok and Alamby), I <3 them. I like Kai.. he's always very fun. Lok is fun too, but geeky-awkward with poor English.

Not sure I'd buy a pink Nikon from them, though.
