Default Images Missing from Memory Card?

This hasn't happened to me so I'm not sure how to help my friend, maybe someone here who knows tons more than me will have the answer.

So, my friend e-mailed me and she's got about 20 images on a memory card, taken at the ballgame on Saturday. She can see the images when the card is in the camera, but she can't download. She's tried 2 different Macs and a PC.

Has anyone had this issue and/or know how to retrieve the images? Her camera is a Panasonic Lumix 10x.

Is the card SDHC? Might need a specific card reader - Plug a usb cable (Or as it's Panasonic, maybe the supplied cable) into the camera straight from the computer rather than using a card reader? (plug camera in, press play button on camera)

Thanks! I'll give her the tip (not sure if she's using a card reader).

BTW, I like your new title...how long before you advance to 'Senior Window Washer'?

When you sleep with Sime, you get the title. As you can see, I'm above that...

Os, I salute you! That admin. thing seems to have its perks. I guess that's what he gets in between all of the grief he gets when there are changes to the site.

I had the same issue last week, trying to download pix from my friend's camera to my computer. It was a SDHC card, and my old reader couldn't read it (I shoot mostly CF, so I've never needed to buy a new reader). I also tried hooking the camera up directly to the computer, but no go - even the computer wouldn't recognize his camera. His thought was that it was formatted for PC, and I'm on a Mac. I just shrugged, handed him back his camera, and will wait for the few pix I wanted

Yeah, I think that the images may be lost forever since she's tried both PC and Mac. She also was plugging her camera directly into the machines so it's not a card reader thing. I'm bummed for her because they were action shots she took at a Yankees game. Oh well, I guess I'll have to break the bad news.

Maybe check to see if images somehow were stored on INTERNAL memory. Some P&S cameras have that. Just a possibilty. If you remove the SD card they won't be stored on it, but may be on the camera itself.

Good thinking! Remove card from camera and try again by reconnecting it back to the computer.

Thanks! I'll definitely pass the information along, it sounds like this could be the answer.
