Default No Comments?

Am I that bad? Lol. I had posted two different threads in the Share Your Shots section in the past week or two but got no comments!! I have been told before that I'm an ok photographer (my parents think I'm great! haha) but I don't seem to get comments on here...? I don't know why...? Haha

It happens.

I've posted several threads, and am lucky to get a couple comments.

Don't worry too much about it. Things can move quickly in SYS and new threads can get lost as this forum grows. Keep posting and sharing!

SYS is so busy and crowded that things get moved down the page and off the first page too quickly.

I've actually been wondering: is there any way of limiting it to 1new thread in SYS per person per week.

Lindie -

I've seem some photos that I consider quite good barely get noticed, and other photos receive double digit comments. I don't get it.

So, don't get discouraged by no or just a few comments - it's not an indication of the quality of your work.

Keep practicing, keep improving, keep having fun, and the rest will take care of itself.

That is an interesting idea - there seems to be such a high volume on SYS that many good shots get lost in the crowd. I'd be more likely to post if the volume were lower (if that makes sense ...)

TBH, in terms of limiting the number of threads, we haven't actually found an automated way to even limit it to one a day and we (the mods) keep an eye on it and manually remove extra threads. Without the ability being automated, it would probably be exceedingly difficult for the mods to keep track of who has posted in the last 7 days.

Maybe people should be encouraged to look at posts with 0 comments on a regular basis than join a photo thread with 10 or more posts.

I usually find that if I look at a photo thread with more than 10 comments it's already been said & I have nothing much new to bring to the party. Discussion threads are different - there is often more to contribute.

So why not give zero comment posts priority when you look thro' that great long list of new posts. I find I need a method of screening which posts to look at

I think the biggest thing is that in my experience, you will have 40+ views and no comments... then you think, man am I that bad? LOL! But I know that there are times where I am either looking for a specific picture I have seen already to get info from it, or I like the picture and I click on the OP's flickr and end up forgetting to post that I liked it on the thread.
