Default mounting suggestions help needed

Hey all,
I'm preparing to mount some photos for an exhibition. The images vary in size and aspect ratio, but are all under 8x10 (inches) - for example, 8 x 8, 8 x 10, 6.5 x 10. In other words, one edge will always be 8 inches or 10 inches. Make sense? I'll probably go with 1/4" foam core for the mounting boards.

My problem is 3 fold:

1) whether to mount them all on the same sized board with varying borders, or mount them on various sized boards with the same sized borders.

2) how much border is optimal and if that should be the same on all sides or not. A fixed size, or proportional to the image size, or NONE.

3) mat or no mat

Comments and suggestions are welcome.
Thanks

General rules.

Don't let your mount/mat overtake the photo. Keep the propritions roughly the same, don't worry about overall size.

You will almost never want to mount/mat anything other than even on all edges or bottom-weighted (top left and right even, bottom edge thicker)

Usually mat only if you're framing. Mats without frames look odd.

A friend of mine recently had a gallery opening and she also had different formats and sizes. She actually skipped the mats/mounts/frames altogether and just stuck the bare images on the walls. It worked pretty well for her style, and was apparently a hit, she sold several prints. I would really say either do that or go full bore with mats & frames.

Yeah, that's the way I'm leaning right now. Mount the images on (foam) board with NO borders.
