In all honesty if I paid a photographer to take pictures of my pregnant wife/girlfriend I wouldn't be satisfied if these were the images I was given, that said I don't find the images to be "unprofessional" they certainly aren't snapshots and she's heading down the right track. The whole point of maternity photography is to show off the belly, what these images contain are floating heads and hands in total darkness, it really draws the eye away from the belly. I really feel that a white background would have been more appropriate for the clothes the mother to be was wearing.

I do think the photographer however did put some thought into the lighting and poses, these don't look like snap shots to me and if I was working there I probably would have done the same thing as the employee. Why am I even critiquing the images, the article was about denying prints; sometimes I just can't help myself. After I was provided the evidence she gave, signed papers, student ID ect I would have certainly authorized the prints. I think the particular employee was a little over zealous in denying the prints.

On the flip side however it's great to see a business out there that doesn't take copyright infringement lightly, good for them! Just need to work on the customer service a little more hehe.

I had Kinko's refuse to copy some pen and ink drawings of mine onto cardstock many years ago, for copyright reasons. I didn't understand why until I was reading about copyright law and saw that Kinko's had been sued in the past for letting people copy books/published papers which were resold. Like the subject of the linked article, my drawings weren't so good that you wouldn't believe a student had made them, but I think it's good to want verification of the artist in either case. What we need is a system of acceptable verification.

Seconded. Not *that* great.

I work in a photo printing lab (and have for several years), and we get a few of these a year. Generally speaking they're people that know what they're doing and want to get some prints done. We just ask to see a RAW file or some kind of proof the image is theirs. On top of that, there is a copyright release that indemnifies the store of any wrongdoing.

thing is over here Boots is one of if not the worst place to get your photos developed. I dropped a load of holiday snaps in there last year and they came out really really bad, colours completely wrong the works - they did a bit of auto fixing to them all. I refused to pay for them they were that bad.

Typical Boots! I never get my photos developed through them. They always come back looking worse than before!

With the article in question she says that she could have developed them in the "darkroom" but she was using a Canon 5d "digital camera" or am I missing something??

I agree a white background would have been alot better AND some heavy duty slap!

However she is a student so we have to give her some credit.

You Brits are weirdos. Won't let a kid get helped out of a tree and now thinking photos like this are "professional".

When photographer AND model come in.....well, maybe it's time to start working out the details of they're "going out of buisness" sale.

I took some quick shots of my sisters dog and the Walgreens Drug store refused to print them until I came in and signed a release.

My dog has trouble using a pen or pencil how can I get my dog to sign a model release? Will a muddy paw print work?
