Default Maybe i shouldve bought a nikon instead :(

Like the title says. Lately ive found one annoying thing about my canon, that it lacks AF assist light which i think is very important. Im sure its not that canon cant put a built in AF assist light,im sure they can. But why do they choose not to include that. I simply dont understand. I have to use a torch/flashlight in order to be able to focus in relatively low light. Not to mention in the dark. Even pocket camera has one tiny little led that helps a lot in the dark. Well, to all other canon users,i dont have any intention to offend you,i just want to express how i feel about the absence of the af light. I know its my fault, i shouldve had more research before deciding which to buy. Silly me, i thought that the tiny white spot was the af light. It turned out to be a timer indicator. Sigh...

The information relating to Canon auto focus assist in your post is incorrect.

Have you read the instruction manual that should have came with the camera?

See pages 45 & 187 of the english manual (make sure your flash is up if you want to use the auto focus assist.)

Your canon does have an AF-Assist light: it uses the flash as an AF-Assist light.

I'll warn you, though, it's bloody annoying.

+1 really really annoying. But I find ergonomics of the canon even more annoying. A friend of mine wants to sell her 50D to get a nikon after I let her borrow my D200 for a couple days. I am afraid to let her borrow my D700 I might not get it back.

I know about the flash working as an af assist, but i cant use it since i always have a radio trigger on my hotshoe, it wont let the flash to popup. What i need is the built in led af assist so i can keep my flash trigger on the hotshoe.

Why not use a 580 flash to control remote flash(s) whilst activating auto focus assist, and disabling flash firing (if you want to), on the master 580?

Possibly there may be 3rd party solutions as well.

If only i could afford one of those. Its quite expensive. Its more than 4mil rups here. The flash i use is only 500k rups. The triggrer is 300k rups. And im gonna need another flash soon. Another cheap one. I wish i could earn more. Been trying to get a side job, but i havent been successful in getting any.
