Default Blogger converts to Nikon, deletes Canon content

This is quite a sad tale.

The owner/blogger of CanonFieldReviews has announced that he is switching to Nikon. I personally don't care whether people use Canon or Nikon, I don't get into those zealous arguments - I also follow a number of Nikon and Canon blogs.

What is concerning is that he is going to delete his existing Canon-focused content.

Quote:
First of all, I will do no more Canon field reviews, and I will delete all Canon field reviews from this site.
I first stumbled across the site just a few nights ago searching for some Canon information, and found his articles quite useful, and added his blog to my feed reader.

I am very disappointed that he is choosing to remove his older Canon-related content. I understand that the content is his, and he is free to choose to do what he wants with it based on his commercial decisions, but I believe it is an overall loss to the Internet when someone chooses to remove content like this.

If you're a Canon user and you're interested in wildlife, you may want to check some of his posts out before they disappear. If you find them useful, then you may want to visit his announcement blog post and politely ask if he will keep them online for posterity.

Actually, I take that back. He has just been through and protected all his Canon content from access whilst I was typing this post.

What a waste

Here's hoping DPS never gets sponsored by Nikon and decides to remove their Canon, Pentax, Olympus and other content

It's amazing to witness the passionate following of this two brands, Canon and Nikon.
It's just like two political parties with a Senator just switching ranks...
But unlike political parties, one can have BOTH Canon and Nikon in photography!
Happy is the fella who owns both...

Some people like to make a big scene although, truth be told, I hadn't heard of the site until you mentioned it and you wouldn't have mentioned it if he hadn't made the scene!

Agreed. I love my Canon, but if Nikon dropped a D3s in my lap with some speedlights and $5000 in lenses, I'd be a Nikon guy the next day. And I'd have no problem telling everyone I was a Nikon guy either.

In case Canon and Nikon are listening...I CAN BE BOUGHT

LOL. Interestingly, he has agreed to make the articles available again after receiving quite a bit of feedback in the comments - nearly all of it not caring about the holy war, and just wanting him to leave his content up.

The cynic may suggest he planned it that way, I prefer to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume he made a misstep and has seen the light

Time to purchase nikonfieldreviews.com and park the domain. He can pay me several grand if he wants my newly purchased domain name.

Read the comments. He's actually owned that domain, and many others since at least December.
