Default What rucksack??

OK I am very new to this but I do know what I want.

I don't want to carry my camera around in an over the shoulder bag, I want a rucksack, not just any rucksack.

I want my rucksack to be a daysack as well, you know, all rolled into one.

I want to carry my camera in the bottom with a spare lens and in the top I want my lunch, a lightweight jacket, a sun hat etc.

It has to be comfortable to wear, with shaped shoulder straps, a chest strap and a waist belt so when I have to do a little climb to get where I want to, to take a photo.

Is there such a thing??

The best way to go is usually to get a real hiking rucksack and pack it accordingly.

The "camera bag" versions usually don't do so well.

I have this rucksack from Kata. It has pretty much everything you described. It has a laptop compartment in the back that's pretty handy. I don't have a laptop, so I put extra notebooks, clothes, ect. in there. I find it very comfortable while hiking.

I have a Lowepro CompuDayPack that I use as a day-to-day backpack for school.

The DR-465 is if you don't want the notebook pocket, the DR-467 (the one linked to above) is if you do.

Thanks for the replies.
After looking at the rucksacks that you have suggested I think i may go with Jim Poors idea as all the all the other ones don't look all that comfortable.
Whilst looking at the rucksacks in Cotswolds yesterday, there where a couple with separate compartments in the bottom, all I would need to do is pad it out.
So the next question is where can I get camera bag padding?
Unless anyone else have seen any others?

A tip from Moose Peterson is to just use a soft towel (good to have anyway) T-shirts (gotta have them with you anyway), etc to pad your gear.

As soon as one adds the label "photography" to anything, the price doubles (at least), so keep it practical.

Yeah, fair point Jim.

The rucksack in Cotswolds that had the seperate compartment was £40 so much cheaper than a "photography" one, and better suited to carring my kit.

Andy.
