Default What do you think is the best photography magazine?

I want to subscribe to a magazine and i was looking in Tesco today but didn't know which one to get, and it didn't have the prices on any of them.

I've honestly never opened the cover to a photography magazine.

There's really nothing you cant find online.

Yes but searching online for the best info can be tedious. In the uk market I read digital photo which I think is great but I don't have anything to compare it to. Slightly too much emphasis on photoshop though especially on the CD (video tutorials).

But I'd recommend it.

That depends on your level of skill and interest. If you are a beginner and a Canon DSLR owner then 'PhotoPlus Canon Edition' is a very good magazine.

You can consider other British magazines such as 'Digital Photographer', 'Digital Camera World', 'Photography Monthly' and 'Amateur Photographer'.

Just don't get Outdoor Photographer it's a complete waste of money. 80% of each issue is nothing but advertisements. The few articles they do have are just personal views of landscape photographers. Very little actual content about making landscape images.

I don't think I'll bother with photography magazines they all seem to follow the same formula. The ones that are printed less often are higher quality and contain useful content. A friend of mine has lens work and I've read a few issues they appear to be much more content heavy then the ad driven magazines shoveled into bookstores these days.

I get RangeFinder, AfterCapture, and Popular Photo. RangeFinder and AfterCapture are both free and do contain some pretty good stuff (and alot of adverts). Pop Photo contains a pretty good balance of reviews and tips on a variety of subjects, cameras, lenses, photoshop tips, and costs about $15.00 US a year.

I absolutely love Digital Camera Essentials (previously known as Digital Camera Buyer). It's mostly about camera's, what types, what they do, the low down on the newest cameras, but I love it!
Digital SLR Photography and Capture are good ones too.

I recommend Practical Photography and British Journal of Photography (You need to be a member of the Royal Photographic Society to receive this one) Ken

Tescos doesn't have a great range of photography magazines, you'd best go to WHSmith.

I used to read Digital SLR Photography but found I knew most of the stuff already so moved to Digital Camera magazine which is better. I'd suggest having a read through some in the shop and decide what's best - some months they might all be quite boring so I don't bother.
