Default The Hard Sell

Weddings

(via a Flickr group)

I'm going to try this approach out on my next customers.

Quote:
A True Tragic Story Of A Bride And Groom, And What It Means For You.

Let me take a moment to tell you a true story. It’s important to you to hear this.

Several years ago, I received a phone call from a man about whose wedding I had spoken with, but we were unable to work with him on his special day

Here’s what she said, "Waco, Tracy just passed away."

I said, "Oh, Jimmy, I’m so sorry."

" I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate you working with us during our wedding planning, and I am so sorry that we didn’t use you. We thought we would save money and have a friend do it for us. There was so much going on, that she forgot to load the camera and we didn’t get anything. Not a single image. She didn’t realize it and neither did we."

"Now, these would have been the final professional photographs of the relationships that matter in our lives, and you were right about how important they are. I just couldn’t see it at the time. I just wanted you to know. Thank you for your kindness to us."

When he finished speaking, he had tears in his eyes, and so did I. He had just put into words, what I had not been able to for my entire career.

You see how "Emotional Family Photography" can make your wedding volumes absolutely PRICELESS?
If you try to save money by getting a cheaper photographer you'll get no pictures and your bride WILL DIE!!

This smells like complete BS to me I'm sorry I just don't buy it. A digital camera will tell you if there is no memory card in the slot. If there was no warning there was no memory card in the slot you would quickly notice after trying to review some images. Which even someone who just picked up a camera enjoys doing. If she was using a film camera wouldn't she suspect something was a miss after pressing the shutter about 40 times and the film not winding back into the canister? The only way I could see this really happening is if the couple had a friend shoot the wedding with a film camera who picked up one up 2 or 3 times their entire life.

This just reads like a post some photographer created to try and stir things up because they are unable to get any customers willing to pay their prices, likely because their work is not up to it or they are marketing themselves to the wrong people. This could also be a scare tactic this photographer is trying to use on customer. After checking out the website it looks like it was designed using a built in template. The portfolio or I should say lack of says a lot as well. There are a few thumbnail images I could find. They look pretty good nothing terrible but nothing really stands out. It all looks very average to me and unimpressive.

You can't trust everything you read on the Internet and telling a customer that their bride will die if go the cheep route is just insensitive and completely unprofessional.

EDIT: I got a nasty headache this morning that's probably why I'm in such a bitter mood nothing personal.

Most dont, actually. Unless you're reviewing each shot as it was taken, there's no indication.
