Default Tricky Project, please help.

This is a bit hard to explain.

Basically I'm trying to make a big mosaic style photo wall. The subject is fairly simple, there will be a tree to the left of the wall and balloons to the right.

Now. I have all the balloon photos I need. But rather than printing them on large sheets, I wanted to cut them up (in photoshop) and print each section as a standard photo size, then re-assemble them like a puzzle... if that makes sense?

The largest of the balloons will be cut into 6 standard photo prints. Now, this is where I'm having difficulty.
I can cut the image up in photoshop and save each cut as a new file 1a,b,c,d,e,f (for the 6 pieces). However, I don't know how best to do this.

I tried using the grid to help keep the cuts the same size. I don't mind a slight difference in size or slight warping (stretching/compression) of the photos.
BUT. I don't want them all to be perfectly aligned.

I actually want some overlapping. I don't want all the photos to be 'square' either (parallel).

I'm not sure if any of that makes sense. But if you have any ideas on how I might do this, please let me know.
Much appreciated.

I just found some images which might help show what I mean, sort of...

Sorry about the giant picture. Didn't realise it was that big, but you can see the photos of the island is the effect I'm after.

Cheers.

Sorry, I'll only bump this once to see if anyone has any ideas?
I'm still not sure what the best method would be.

Take your image and print it with your printer at home. Using a ruler and a pen, draw the sections you want; this helps with organization. Then take it into PS, "crop" each section as an individual image of varying sizes. Then have them printed on photo paper from your photo lab. Once you get them home, just position them the way you want them

I never saw a question. Just a bunch of statements.

Perhaps narrowing down what you want help on would be helpful.
