I have a few celebrity photos, but I didn't get a release signed. Can I still put these photos on my web page and blog? Wouldn't they be considered editorial?

Nobody here is really qualified to answer that.
1. It will depend on state laws. 2. It depends on the nature of the photo. 3. It depends on whether or not your use can be seen as commercial or not; i.e. are you using the photo for a pormotional purpose with the end goal of making money. 4. It depends. It depends.
Honestly, asking here is the wrong place. I'm curious enough to research a lot about IP law, and I would say that if you derive any income at all from the blog or anything related to the blog then it could possibly be considered commercial. This is a wide net. And don't take my word for it. There are two ways to look at this: 1. better safe than sorry. 2. nobody will probably ever notice. Pick your poison, but I'm not liable. |

I have photos of different celebrities that came to visit my ship while out here. I have pictures of Yung Joc. He came out here and put on a concert for us sailors. It was a really good concert.. I think I was supprise with him. Also, James Cameron, Michelle Rodriguez, and ..... They came out here and gave a special screening of the movie Avatar. And just recently, David Hartman, Neil Armstrong, Robert J. Gilliland came out here and talked about there experiences as pilots. We may have more come out. They all are doing there part in supporting the troops. I was going to have an editorial gallery on my page and put them on there as supporting the troops. My biggest mistake was not getting a release...
