Personally I think it's time to eliminate show and tell shots from the assignments. The current "jump" assignment has more show and tell shots than actual assignment shots. There's already a space for sharing photos. I realize there is probably a larger audiance during the assignment, but if they aren't eligible, why not hold them until the assignment ends then allow them to be added.

Wouldnt it be a matter of opinion on what one thinks is "show and tell" and one another feels is something different?

Because all I can come up with is ooo, ooo look what I did with that topic back when. It could be here's an idea for you, but it still goes back to I did it first. If there is certain criteria to be eligible for the assignment, then anything other than is just sharing.

How would you hold them back?

In the past, I have placed some of my favorite photos that were ineligible but fit the contest very well in the contest thread both as a means of inspiration to others as well as a placeholder for myself if I had enough time to complete the assignment.

Oh, I thought that list of rules at the beginning of each assignment were expected to be followed. I know lots of folks get excited to start posting and don't read them, but fellow members are constrantly referring people to them. Also, the ones who must sift through all the photos to find the three current and eligible photos that best represent the assignment are always popping in to remind us of the rules to make it easier on them at the end of the assignment. How can going through so many ineligible photos make it any easier? I just thought it could be an added rule, but as it turns out, it doesn't really seem to matter. If it doesn't bug anybody else, then I won't let it bug me either.

hmm that does mean more work enforcing it, but i see your point.
i do however like that people continue to add after the deadline is done, so I wouldn't like to see that stopped. maybe just a request that if it isn't eligible, hold off until the contest is closed? even if no one works to enforce it, it may cut down slightly on the extra shots....

On Friday morning I checked out the Weekend Challenge. And here it is again, a new challenge designed to get you away from the computer, pick up your camera with a goal in mind and come back to the computer and post your results for a current challenge. Instead the thread was already filled with a long list of old photos. I just loose interest in going through old photos to eventually get to the ones that would show me how others took on the challenge.
