Default Why the pros hate amatures

YouTube - Judge Joe Brown - Cheap wedding photographer

Aside from knocking what a lower end camera "could" do in the right hands, (which it was not here) Its people this this photog that are making it hard on the real pros out there, and the ones who are working there way up.

Her attitude right off the bat is bad!

Just research people! Make sure you like the person and the work, ask for references, look at prior work, not just what they show you.

a kit lens? For a wedding? Come on! Haven't watched the outcome, but hoping she is banned from doing this to someone again!

I don't think that anyone who ends up on Judge Joe Brown should be representative of pros, amateurs, or anyone really.

BINGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After watching this, it's something I've been trying to say all along. If you don't have the right equipment to do the job, you're just hurting the business. They are entry level cameras...period! If you're going to shoot with them, at least get the lenses, flashes and studio lights.

This is a hot topic..
Just by visiting the users website on DPS, I came across a lady who shoots a wedding ceremony for 100$...............

This is straight up killing the market.

If you never shot weddings and would like to work in that field, assist a pro photog for 2-3 weddings.
Shooting weddings is a huge responsability, I find that there should be a minimum price to shoot wedding, let's say 2000$ for the time only. If you think your work is not worth 2000$ then just assist someone.

JIM: That is correct, Just because its an entry level doesn't mean it cant be used, With the right user and equipment. Just saying the camera is entry level and thus not worthy of being used, is wrong. That was my point, since even my d40x is leaps ahead of a film camera from 10 years ago, doesnt mean those cameras didnt take great pictures. But Knowing how to use it properly is the key.

DJ: The price isnt what is killing the market, Min 2k for a wedding? Well guess that leaves out anyone from getting wedding pictures unless they make 50k a year or more. Its more about the rank amateurs that THINK they can do a job thus taking money away from the ones that can.

A 2-3k photog that knows his work, isnt going to lose money to a 1k one, different demographic cost wise, BUT they are going to lose money to the idiot that charges 2k or more and does crappy work. The industry is tainted then.

I just hate it because of people like the "hack" in the video it kills the market as a whole for the ones that can actually do it professionally in quality, (leaving cost out of it, cause cost is not a prerequisite for quality), then I have to agree with Jim here.. Which so far seldom happens..

The their attitude is the worst I have ever seen, I would love to know where they are located to see their other work. Printed at walmart, didnt know the speed of the lens, rude, my lord. No flash and blamed it on the minister, I am sorry, but If i was doing a shoot and someone there told me I couldnt use flash, and I know the lighting is terrible, I am talking to the client and telling them, either we have to find a way to use the flash or I am not doing it. AND I AM A NOBODY in this field, and dont know what I am doing yet! But I do know you need LIGHT! Or if Light is not available I need a fast lens with large aperture to make sure I get ALL the LIGHT I can.

I really hope there are not a lot of people like these two out there, or I might have to just agree with Jim from here on out and change my belief!

hahaha.I knew we'd agree on one thing or two sooner or later. I've told couples that if the minister doesn't allow flash photography, to tell them, that they are renting his services and building and it's their wedding. So if he won't allow flash photography, go find someone who will.
