Default Man branded a paedo after son's pic

Will common sense ever prevail? This story really takes the biscuit. Seriously it's so stupid it's almost funny!

Badge number, name, precinct. Then call emergency services (911 in North America) and say you're being threatened. When the police arrive and you show them who is threatening you, something WILL happen.

I agree this story is totally ridiculous but what is the law ? I have read a lot of conflicting information e.g. they can make you delete your photos, they cannot make you delete etc.

Is there a definitive text somewhere that can be made sticky?

What makes this story even worse, he was stopped taking pictures because they thought be might be a paedo and he could not prove the child was his - but they were ok with him walking off with kid afterwards How ridiculous can it get.

I wouldn't be surprised if, after this incident, the cop and security guard proceeded to run around the mall telling everyone, "The sky is falling! The sky is falling!"

I'll be the first to admit, as a parent, I worry about something bad happening to my kids no matter where we are. Which is why it's mine and my wife's job to keep them safe. Not some wannabe security guard and a cop who obviously feels a need to flex his authority.

"I'm sorry for causing a disturbance, your Honor. But I was out with my family, minding my own business and suddenly my family and I were being threatened by two complete strangers. I may have over reacted but how was I to know they weren't two pedophiles disguised as authority figures trying to kidnap my son to satisfy their sick urges. I mean, c'mon... look at that security guard... doesn't his face just scream pedophile?"

I'm sure the little boy would have been calling him Daddy anyway which makes this story even more stupid. For all we know that security guard could be a paedo spying on kids via cctv.

When I showed my husband this story his reaction to the security guards statement of "You could be a paedophile" was "So could you!!"

Same crap happens on this side of the pond as well. The sad part about it is the security guard and cop probably thought they were protecting the public. I think they need to raise the IQ requirement for both jobs to "More than 2 digits".

If I was the dad, I would have called a policeman and complain about this private security guard harrassing me. These security guards have no rights but can only ask you to leave their premises and DO nothing else.

BTW because we have the rights to bear arms, I never leave home without these: a 40 cal semi auto sub compact pistol, a 6 inch tanto bladed knife,..
