Default I've been asked if my images can be used in a curriculum

Hi, Not sure if any of you have experienced this or similar but I'd be really grateful for some advice. I received an email from someone who volunteers at a school teaching IB(International Baccalaureate) and wants to use a few of my images in a class for 2nd graders being introduced to photography.
My instinct is that it's fine, but is there any downside?
Thanks.

If it's printed material, your name should be in the lower right or left outside of the image in the white of the paper. If you look at The Australian newspaper, and others like The Sydney Morning Herald, almost all photos are with by lines. Compensation is up to you to negotiate, but the credits are fairly standard in the press.
If it is in the form of digital image for presentations, like in power point, etc. The credits are also on the lower right or left. Having your name in a curricullum is a great exposure.
Good onya!

If it's a local school, then I would be insisting on an appropriate credit and put it down to a marketing exercise.

If it's further afield and unlikely to generate any business for you, then I'd be considering working out how much they might be able to pay. IB schools are generally private schools, we all know they are good for a few dollars!

All of the IB schools I've seen were public, and most of the private schools don't have a lot of extra money floating around due to the bad economy and spoiling the students.

I think he is being very "nice" in asking you. Because they will be used for education in a classroom, and probably "shown" not published....it is very arguably a case of "fair use".

Ask for "credit" and say thank you.

Well, it's done now. He said he'd put my 'byline' on the filenames (ok marginal, but...) and I said thank you. I'm really just pleased my images will go somewhere other than Flickr!
Thanks everyone for their thoughts.

Good attitude Kate. Just nice to have people study them I think.
