Hi there Kaloyan, I am not a professional photographer, I am an amateur who has been taking pictures for over 50 years. I have looked through your photo's from your link and some are OK. That is not a criticism but my observation of how far you have developed on your photographic journey so far. I can see that you have tried to copy some styles you find in many forums. I would not expect you to have developed any further and you do seem to have the main ingredient for any photographer - that is the "eye" to spot a picture, now you need to develop it and learn about your camera. Any camera will do - it is the photographer and not the camera that takes good pictures. You can give the worst photographer in the world the best camera in the world and he/she will still not be able to take good pictures. Can I start by suggesting you join several of the Photography forums out there - pBase, Photo.net, World Photography Forum - Digital Photography School is a good starting place. Look at other peoples work and do NOT become disheartened. There are some brilliant photographers out there - many of whom are not professionals. There are also many people out there who are willing to help, advise and give critique of your work. Try and decide on a couple of photographic categories - say landscape, portraits or some other like close-up, architecture. Concentrate on learning the basics and then improve your skills. You will need to get to know what your camera is capable of because that is the tool you will use to create your pictures. My motto has always been " I take pictures of what I like - if someone else likes them, that is a bonus". Do not forget we are all still learning - even me after all these years. But most important is always ENJOY your photography. My usual name on most of these sites is andy153.

If you really want a professional critique this is probably not the place.
What you can do is put together a portfolio of your best images (15-40 is a pretty typical range), and make a few calls locally. Look up art buyers and gallery directors in your area. Explain who you are and your goals and ask if they could schedule a few spare moments to review your portfolio. If you're planning on being a fine art photographer, this is what you'll eventually have to do, so might as well get used to it now. Your age might work for you here; you'd be surprised how many buyers are sympathetic to young and "rising" artists. If that doesn't pan out, you could then move on to pro photographers in your area or photography instructors at any local schools. Again you might get someone sympathetic, or in the case of pros someone who might be willing to mentor you. Good luck! |
