What have I learned since getting back into photography this time around. Umm There are a pile of people better than me, and just as many not as good. That I need to find my niche, I'm getting closer. And without a business plan it will be all for nothing. If I don't succeed I don't want it to because I did things wrong.

I so know how you feel! Ever since I began this photography journey seriously I have learnt just how much I DON'T know. I really try not to compare myself to others who are "better" than me and I see them as inspiration and to get ideas from. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step and I'm not going back I am keeping going until I reach my ultimate goal which might not be for 10 years time but in the meantime I read, study, take photos, try different techniques etc etc I don't tell everyone everything to do with my business plans either as that way I keep my own councel and don't open myself up to unnecessary criticism and negativity.
I have books a mile high which I delve into regularly. By the way substitute the words "wrong" to "different" (you didn't get the wrong exposure, you got a different exposure) and "confidence" to "courage". You have all the skills and talents you need to be a fantastic photographer!! Go for it!

So many people forget the business end of photography. For the next bit that is going to be my focus.

"Talent" is probably the LAST requirement for success....Dedication/motivation is the first.

What you say is some what true but .,I believe .that can neither be taught nor read. so either you have it or you don't But if your talent back up what you are selling, good luck with that. I think its when all thing are equal that you are successful..

Talent cannot be taught, but skill can. And in the end there is little difference to the viewer...
Regardless, talent without motivation is wasted. Motivation without talent, but with a modicum of skill, can be successful.

What I have been doing is trying every thing, from weddings to baby portrait to still life in the effort to find just what I love. The million $ question is will there be $ in it. What I don't care for family shots with a pile of kids. Just not my cup of tea.
