It could be argued that NOW is the golden age of photography.

As you noted it is much cheaper and easier. Almost anyone can make a few bucks doing it. The availability makes it much more likely we will see great images from people who never would have had the opportunity before.....etc etc.

Whether this is good or bad depends on your perspective. If your goal is to make a significant living from it, it's bad. But for the art as a whole, it's probably good. (there is the negative of overexposure to bad photography, and photography in general, which tends to lessen it's impact. Might be why the more "dramatic" styles are becoming popular.)

hehehe - I knew I'd get it for saying that. I considered putting (but a very small number) on that profession, but I didn't think there'd be much overlap with photography. Guess I was wrong!

Yeah, I meant to say the golden age of photography for pro photogs had passed. Sorry for being unclear. i had a lot of thoughts going on in my head for that one as you can see by the long post
