Default DPS - Page Is Currently Unavailable

A couple times a month, I have a problem viewing some threads. If I click on an SYS thread, it brings me to an all white page, and tells me, "That page is currently unavailable." But, it doesn't happen with every thread. I can see some but not other.

Does anyone else see this happen? I thought maybe it had something to do with my IP address, so I restarted my computer, and it seems to work. I haven't done it this time because it's not convenient right now.

Mods? Any ideas?

Case in point. I just came back from rebooting my computer, now it seems I can see those threads that were previously unavailable. Anyone else have this problem? I'm not a computer novice...in fact, quite the opposite (part software engineer, part applications engineer), so this is puzzling.

I sometimes see that message and "Connection Timed Out."

It's the internet. I don't stress about it. I just try again. Sometimes I think we have come to expect too much from the internet. But it is a technology and subject to problems with technology.

I've been at this too long to get upset about an occasional message about a page being unavailable. I remember the days of BBSing before the internet. Now that was frustrating.

And, yes, I'm a computer professional too -- both hardware and software, and programmer. Until recently I made a living helping people frustrated with computers. I hope to do so again soon (laid off after a take over of my former company).

Sometimes it can be your internet connection and sometimes it can be the server which delivers the DPS site or it's connection to the internet. If a lot of people are browsing at the same time, I think it must sometimes throttle back so that some people get a half-way decent browsing experience rather than everyone timing out.

The system does get upgraded from time to time (with another upgrade very soon) but, in the first instance, the best advice is "be patient and try a bit later". That will deal with a lot of problems both here and on other sites (even something like Googlemail will sometimes run very slowly as it has peaks in demand).
