Default photos for publishing in magazine

I was asked to resize photos to 300 dpi for publishing in magazine. Dont I need more information about mb size? What is the "standard" size for photos to be published in magazines, or is that different for every publication?

dpi is not a size, but a resolution.

Can you give more information -- ideally quote the resolution requirements?

Usually printers are more concerned with pixels per inch which is obviously tied to the size print being made. i.e, an 8x10 @ 300ppi is a 2400x3000 px image. This doesn't tell you much aboutthe actual file size, it's just the dimensions of the image.
