Put your eyes down to the floor from time to time. As well as some fantastic buildings, parts of Barcelona also have highly artistic paving!

Also, take a walk down La Rambla to the harbour. There are lots of great views down there, including a mirrored wall angled above a café terrace.

It is a visually rich city - enjoy! I really look forward to going back there (last visit was about three years ago).

Hi,
Barcelona is a fantastic, vibrant city. I was there a few months ago and there are photographic opportunities at every turn. Look up, down (previous post), everywhere.
Like the previous post suggested walk Las Ramblas...at the top of it is Placa Catalunya. You might take the Bus Turistic (located across from the Placa Catalunya in front of the department store El Cortes Ingles) to the Sagrada Familia Cathedral and Parc Guell to see work by Gaudi.
Hope you have a great time.

Well i had a great weekend in Barcelona. It rained one day so that was a bit of a downer. The city is amazing and I hope to go back in the near future. Here are 3 pictures from my trip...

Good to have you back. Taking a look at your pictures (and browsing all the ones you have tagged as "Barcelona") reminded me of a technique I sometimes use when visiting a new place: see what other people have tagged with the same place on Flickr (eg. Barcelona) or use their map feature to explore visually.

It is a free, community-based way to get an advance glimpse and work out things you want to see, cliches you want to avoid and perhaps some lesser visited spots that you could contribute pictures of, improving the resource for future travellers.

cagemaster33,

No cliches here; photography for the sake of what interests you. I favor one and three for the richness of color and simplicity, two for the reflection in water. A pleasure to see.

The olympic harbour is good (i think you can rent out a bike as well for pleasant long rides along the coast)

Hmm the already mentioned Ramblas (be weary of pickpockets)
The Gaudi apartments are a must... (especially the rooftop)

Oh and when you get to the Christopher Columbus statue (at the end of the ramblas) note that its supposed to be pointing west to the new world... but due to some communication error they placed him faceing the wrong direction!

Above all, enjoy yourself and do post back with some pics : )

Oops just read this perhaps a day too late, maybe u are able to read this from there, good luck!

hehe. i went and saw all of gaudi's work. he truly was revolutionary and thinking ahead of his time. it was raining and miserable the day we saw all of it so i didnt get any shots i really would post. his church is breathtaking in size and detail. although i didnt get to see the entire city, what i saw was amazing and i will definently go back in the future to explore more. thanks for the comments on the pictures as well.
