Default Jeeze! This is an expensive hobby!

Just updated my gear insurance today....

I was shocked to find out how much I actually have invested in gear!
The upgrade to FF and good lenses for it (and suitable for bird photography) = $$$$$
I had a good idea, but adding it all together and summing it up...well it's a little shocking.

Not only shocking, but it's a little bit scary isn't it.

I'm still on my kit gear and adding up my wish list is very scary. I can only imagine accumulating the gear over time and then adding up the expense!

Yep-it's as expensive as you make it- I have a Nikon D50, A new Panasonic G1,a Canon G3,and a 100 dollar 10 megapixel Sanyo E1075-and for most of my stock work, I use the Sanyo-as for bird photography, I use the Nikon with the so-called "crappy" 70-300 G kit lens-menu set for trap focusing-works like a dream. It's quite shocking to see the assets laid down on paper. Expensive indeed!

I did similar to the OP - only it was my household insurance renewal.

Between my musical instruments and my camera gear never mind the usual household gadgetry.... i cried.

Just spend less on the consumer gadgets (TVs, iPods, iPhones) and more on the creative (instruments, cameras) .
