Lightbulb Wolf Moon tonight

I found this link and thought tonight might be a great opportunity to shoot the moon.

I saw that. I need to find out when and where the moon will be at certain times. I have a couple photo shoots tonight (one freelance for the paper, one wedding rehersal) but was hoping to sneak a couple shots of the moon in. I even got a good location picked out

Just a little "rule of thumb" when it comes to full moon: On the day of full moon, it actually rises at the same time the sun sets. And when it's new moon, it rises at the same time as the sun. Might help next time you're thinking of doing a full moon shot.

I tried to take photos of the moon tonight but all that came out was horrible grey blobs

The moon photos I see on this site and flickr are AWESOME. I did hav my camera on auto focus perhaps thats what I did wrong or else I didn't have a suitable lens. I was soooooo cold too and didn't want to hang about.

Using auto focus to try and focus on something that's technically at the infinity end of focus is always a challenge.
