Thats true, ALT tags seem to work just fine. Now back to the main topic, why the images aren't listed at all on image search. Still trying to find clues on the allmighty Google.

I found full size images with image search from pwojeespwa.blogspot.com and the direct url to the image would be: http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_FPbjDdBYOp...0/DSC_0014.JPG linked from: Pwoje Espwa - Hope in Haiti: November 2009 Other interesting point is that no images from pwojeespwa.blogspot.com appear when using the site: search. |

I don't understand why this shows 3 of my images as the first ones.
site:blogspot.com "dancers in motion" When searching for only "dancers in motion" they still appear on the first page. Those are the only images that I have listed on Google Image Search. I have no idea why those are there but not the others. |

Lots of hard work.
Do you have a sitemap? is it updated daily? Page freshness, ALT tags, correct naming, non repetitive naming, no more than 12 keywords... All help, depending on what "google" day it is...

Yes I have a sitemap that is updated on the flow. Have been sick some time so there was a bigger break in updates but it's quite fresh posts on the page. Alt tags are there and not so many repetations. Everything seems to be in order other than images not showing up.

Most of your images are named like this...
http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_NO_j7ThZM5U/S1ijQwPM0UI/AAAAAAAAAYI/9XFbQ_vtQIk/s1600-h/IMG_2880.jpg You only had two or three ALT tags that I could see and your blog isn't that old / doesn't have much content. Patience, Jedi...

Yes I know that the image names don't really help but they should still appear. All the images that I have taken have alt tags. It's true that the blog isn't that old nor does it have a lot of content but I find it strange how every post can appear on regular search but not the image search.
I read that in Google Webmaster tools there should be an option called Enhanced Image Search. I don't see that though. Could anyone confirm that it's there? |

Google Advanced*Image*Search
Let me try put it in perspective for you... About 850 million photos are uploaded to Facebook every month and of those, I'd suggest more than half by people that don't rename images - so your images that are called IMG_2880.JPG are competition with... well, when I googled IMG_2880.jpg there are 18,800 results... IMG_2880.jpg - Google Search So, for you to RANK in that lot is going to take something special, OR, for you to call your image something meaningful.

Yes I understand that. But my original question was not how to get a higher rank in the image search. It was how to get them to appear there in the first place. As the ALT tags and text surrounding it also plays it's part, the only thing a correctly named image does is to appear higher up in the search result.
As far as I understand, the image name does not matter whether the image is listed ot not. As we have seen, some of the images appear even with those standard names and the alt tags are sufficient for me to find them. It would only be logical if the other images from the blog showed up as well when I search for them using their alt tags. |
