Default Sigma 70 - 300mm Nikon Mount

Santa got me a new Nikor lens for Xmas so I do not need this one any longer. Sigma 70 - 300mm F4 - 5.6 DG Macro that is about 6 months old. In the same condition as when I bought it.
Asking $125 (shipping included) or $100 if it can be picked up.
Any questions, just ask.
Sue

Does anyone know if the lens will fit the d40x ?? I am not sure. The online descrip of the lens doesn't say that it is specific to any or not.
thanks

What I wrote is what the box it came in said. If I were you I would call a camera store and ask. Unless someone one here can say offer up a good answer. From what I just read, some lenses do not AF on the D40. I wouldn't want you to get this and find out it doesn't work.

In doing some more reading on it, it appears that Sigma has added the autofocus motor to the apo and non apo version of this lens, so it will autofocus on the d40x.

If I can get anyone to confirm this I will be taking this one off your hands, figure its a good starter glass for to compliment the kit lens I have..

I just posted in the General Chit Chat section to ask if anyone knows. Hopefully we'll get an answer there!

I don't think so since it is not HSM. Nikon D40x will only auto focus with Sigma HSM, Nikon AF-S and Tamron BIM lenses.

Hmm where was that info from? I read this in a press release from sigmas site..

Sigma Press Release

Incorporation of a built-in motor allows autofocus with all Nikon cameras

70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro
70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro

The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of the new APO 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG Macro for Nikon and 70-300mm F4-5.6 DG Macro for Nikon. The Nikon D40, D40x and D60 cameras cannot fully support the original Nikon lenses, as there is no AF motor built into these cameras, therefore they require a motor built into the lens to achieve autofocus. Many people are unaware of this until they have purchased their new Nikon D40 or D40x. The inclusion of the built-in motor in these two new lenses allows autofocus with all Nikon cameras.

If not oh well
