I'm in Ottawa, and could do local pickup, but that is a TON to ask for an AI-S of that quality. I can get a NEW, AF 24mm f/2.8 for $480 (MSRP, Nikon.ca).

I agree 100% about the f/2.8. Most people would rather get the slower f/2.8 version. If you're shooting for landscape, I recommend taking the slower ones - even the 28mm MF f/3.5 version is superb for that. This 24mm f/2 is more for collectors and those who love MF PJ style shooting.
