This weeks submission is from FstopMike. Thanks a bunch for sending this in!
Gotta tell ya, I sure smiled when I saw this and know you guys are gonna come up with some awsome edits!

As always, the rules are simple. Edit the image in anyway that you see fit. BUT, you have to post the steps that you took to get to your final product.

Let's see what you would do!

What Would You Do #129

I decided to try to make the horse stand out a little more against the background.

In Paint Shop Pro:
  • Straightened and cropped the image.
  • Selected the sunlit part of the horse's head and matched it to the rest of the horse with the Backlighting adjustment.
  • Adjusted color and levels.
  • Made two duplicate layers of the image.
  • Converted the first layer to black & white then adjusted visibility to desaturate the background.
  • In the second layer, deleted everything except the horse and increased the saturation.
  • Added a picture frame and erased the parts covering the front part of the horse.

Between participating in the OOB thread, and seeing Vail's version, this just screamed to be OOBs to me.

Opened image, opened sky as layer and scaled down to approx size I wanted, did an alpha to selection, created a border by Selection-Border and selected 30 pixels (I think), created a drop shadow, transformed, went back to the original pic and masked out unwanted portions and adjusted levels, applied mask, rotated to appear to walk out of the picture, opened a transparent layer and selected a rectangle, filled with the blend tool set to Rainbow, Used Filter-Distorts-Curve Bend to create the rainbow, reduced opacity of rainbow, created a new layer, filled it with blue and moved to bottom, flatten.

Great job on the out of bounds... but can I just say WOW and OMG to the original? LOL - that is quite a scene

winged horse

i selected the horse with the pen tool and pressed ctrl J to put it in another layer. i used hue and saturation to change the color. added the horn and selected the head to lower it a little. i selected the front right leg of the horse and raised it up to make it different from the original horse. i then moved the horse forward and used layer mask to make it look like it is behind the pink horse.
i removed the wings. and cropped the white post at the right and went to canvas size to add space to the left. i selected the surrounding area near the vacant space and moved it to cover the blank space. i used the rubber stamp tool to fine tune the left vacant space.

You guys are having fun with this one! Hope you dont mind my take.
First thing I did was to use the clone tool to get rid of the writing on the horse and then to paste a new background on as a new layer. Next I used Image Skil in PSP to remove the background around the horse and then used the ereaser tool to clean up the edges. Merged abd duplicate. Used Topaz Labs to destaurate and add detail to the horse. Added the wings on a new layer and destaurated and lightened up to match the horse. The clone tool worked great for blending the feathers into the body. Next I added a drop shadow on a new layer and then erased where I didnt want the shadow to be.
merged all layers. duplicate again and used the clarify tool to add still more detail. Next I added 2 texture layers and placed the blend mode on overlay. Played with opacity levels until I found what I liked. Last was the warp tool set to expand to make his nostrils bigger and the tail longer

horse
