Question What Would You Do (#29)

Better late than never, but here is the 29th edition of What Would You Do.

For all the new people here, this is the thread where you get to practice and show off your post-processing skills on someone else's photograph. This week's photo is by Firemaine

Screech Owl

What you need to do is simple. Edit the photo however you want, come and post it back here and tell what you did and how you did it.

I'm always on the lookout for more pictures to use in these threads, so if you would like your picture to be featured, send me a PM with a link to the medium and large version of your photo (if you have it). That's it!

Now, let's see what you would do

Duplicated layer - Multiply to bring out colors
There wass till too much white for me so I used the dropper tool and picked a color on the owl and then painted a portion of the owl at 30% opacity.
Made the eyes a bit bigger by using the warp tool
Gave it a vignette and then increased the contrast and darkness

Hi Nicole,
I am not sure if you already do, but I had a suggestion that if someone submits an image, it might be a good idea to mention that person. Just a thought..

The images so far have been interesting to work with.. Good work

this was a good one for me....learned a bit about blending two images to look consistent. I think i got it pretty good but long you don't look at the larger image zoomed in....
I call this one "It can't be this easy" as if the hawk is or whatever is looking at the owls like dinner and lunch!

Forgot my steps.....
First took the owl out with the selection tool. Quick and easy.
Then flipped it and created another image of that.
Took both the images of the owls and placed on an image I just got the other day of a hawk or kite in my neighbors tree. Placed them on branches that seemed right.
Adjusted them a bit by rotating them slightly in the transform menu to get them lined up right.
Then I sharpened the Hawk alot nd upped contrast to get it close to the owls appearance.
Then blurred background a bit.
Lastly I gave the owls a bit of shadow under their tail feathers.

I bet everyone is going to focus on the owl and ignore that fascinating flagpole or pipe it is standing on....

Instead, I've chosen to take that element of the picture and turn it into something that could be used as a texture elsewhere (multiple copying and then a curves adjustment to bring out more detail on the final composite).

wulf if you dont mind i am going to use this as a texture/background. I've been trying to make some that look sort of futuristic.
