What_Would_You_Do_119_VM

This reminded me of some old family slides I was going through recently, so I tried to give it a bit of a worn look.

In Paint Shop Pro:
  • Adjusted the color balance of the original image.
  • Made two copies on separate layers.
  • On the first layer, increased the sharpness of the mountain areas and adjusted the levels to somewhat overexpose the image.
  • On the second layer, added motion blur toward the right to the leafy foreground areas and applied gaussian blur to the entire image, adjusted the levels to overexpose this layer as well.
  • Set the second layer to Multiply.
  • Added a levels adjustment layer and refined the contrast.
  • Added saturation adjustment layer with a circular gradiant fill to reduce the saturation around the edges of the image.
  • Added a couple of picture frames and adjusted their visibility to add some flaws around the edges.
  • Added a white border.

I tried to get this to be a black and white but nothing really looked right. So, with all the wonderful colors in I thought it might look nice as a paitning. So I simply ran it thru Corel Painter under the underpainting effect. Brought it back into PSP and added a fractalious effect layer, Changed the blend mode to overlay and lowered the opcaity. This gave the lighter colors a bit of a boost.

This is my first time to try this "what would you do" stuff.
Threw this together really fast, if you were to view it large then you could see lots of mistakes.
  • Opened in gimp.
  • First added a stock texture I found on the internet that is sorta like a canvas.
  • Filters>Artistic>Apply Canvas
  • Used the smudge tool on the original image
  • Used the dodge tool on the canvas layer
  • Flattened image
  • Maybe some other things

cloud moon

A pity to "change" such a nice picture!!!

In Gimp
Colours-Hue and saturation Master tag
Reduce lightness and contrast until I got what looked like moonlight.
A moon picture, scaled to fit the image, and reduced opacity, copied and pasted onto picture.
Added cloud effect in front of moon
And that's about it.

This is great. It really captures the feel of an old landscape painting that's been sitting above the fireplace for a hundred years.

i went for the painting look as well.....

wwyd 119

the first thing i wanted to do was correct the color of the foliage....isolated it and corrected with a locked layer of levels....blue slider pulled right....same adjustment on the mountain, sky, and water.....but less so.....evened out the scene's color with a layer of orange turned way down.....painted with underpainting filter.....selectively lightened and darkened areas of the scene to taste.......thought a little sunshine would look nice, so i panted in a diffused yellow in the center of the trees.....vignette and that's it.....

Mike, this was one beautiful capture!

Fixed overblown areas, Filter-Decor-Old Photo, this created a new photo to work on, in the new image I opened the original as a layer and moved the layer to the bottom, I decreased the opacity of the "Old Photo" layer to bring more color back, opened the rainbow as a layer and masked out any unwanted portions, then positioned it under the Old Photo layer but above the photo layer. Did an unsharp mask on the photo layer, and flattened.

Default Photo Editing

Color cast and blownout areas are the main problem, IMHO. I have adjusted those in Elements with "Shadows and Highlights" and "Color Cast"
