Nessie is alive and well on the Occee River in TN! You should've seen them back-paddling out of there!

In PS....
- cut out the dragon head
- pasted as new layer into rafting picture
- copied a portion of the water as a new layer
- placed water layer over the bottom edge of the dragon to create some depth
- adjusted brightness/contrast of dragon
- blurred edges
- added a slight shadow to the dragon

Edit stone/sky/roof in separate curves layers
combine in new layer
Burn in the shadows
Dodge the highlights
Desaturate
Alter contrast again using curves
convert to B&W picture mode
Apply tritone effect
Convert back to RGB

Default My humble first attempt

Not too much fancy here, for a first try.

Bishop Castle

I first converted the photo into 5 different exposures in RAW, then created a pseudo-HDR out of them. Tone-mapped with paying careful attention to not go heavy on the sky.
Then some contrast/level/colours tweaking, followed by a conversion into B/W.
To clean up: some noise reduction, sharpening and cropping.

What we see depends mainly on what we look for.
