Default What Would You Do? 106!!

For this weeks challenge, we have a really cool bug shot from FstopMike!. Thanks for sending so many great images for us to play with!
Rules are simple, edit the image anyway that you see fit. Remember, to post the steps you took to acheive your final product. This challenge is as much about learning as it is about sharing with others so that they may learn.

Now, let's see what you would do!

If you would like your image to be posted please send me a medium sized photo (html code would be a plus) and a link to a larger version

Using Photoshop CS3
Rotated and cropped original
Created layer from background and duplicated
Used tone mapping plugin on background layer and increased sharpness
Added gaussian blur to top layer
Darkened top layer
Lowered opacity of top layer to approx 50%
Erased bug from top layer
Merged layers
Applied lens vignette shadow
Added black stroke
Done

The rare Rainbow Spider species was dying out. They both knew it, but had no hope in finding a mate. They were each despairing, until, at last, they found one another. Love blossomed quickly. Shortly thereafter, she bore eggs, ensuring the the species would survive!!

Cropped, selected spider body, added layer, used the gradient tool in the selection on the new layer, changed layer mode to overlay and duplicated, flattened image, increased canvas size, duplicated the layer and flipped horizontally, moved new layer to where I wanted and masked out unwanted portions, cropped, selected spider on right and scaled to larger size (for some reason this actually duplicated the spider, so I had to clone out the parts of the original spider that could be seen...weird glitch), Cloned stuff at bottom so they were actually standing on something, used "lighting effect" to have light on nest, flattened image.

I have never seen the Rainbow Spider in KY and that’s a GOOD thing. Keep them in GA. I’m amazed at the creativity I see here. Well done.

1. Duplicate so I don't completely kill the shot quite yet. 2. Duplicate. Layer setting "color Burn". duplicate again, layer setting "screen." 3. New layer. used black soft edge bursh to go around where the bug was with black. put the layer on overlay. 4. New layer. white small brush to go over that circle thing. then with a sligthly smaller brush go over the white to make an ecllipse. Added and outer glow of orange. 5. New layer for the little shines on the web. 6. Crop. 7. Then I pulled in the photo my best friend took of me from this past forth of July. and used the clone tool to take out the lollipop that was in my hand. 8. Shrunk the picture of me to the right size and used masking to blend in with the background. 9. Put the layer on Linear burn. duplicate that layer and put it on luminosity. so that way the colors all matched. 10. New layer. colored over my face, color burn. so that way i had a little more color and i guess "life" in my face.
