Anytime I go to the store, I drive thru small towns. This town is Carnarvon, IA, population under 100. My grandpa used to preach at this little church back in its 'glory days,' but now it's slowly dwindling down in numbers. We pass by every Sunday morning on the way to our (much bigger) church, and at most, have seen maybe 10 cars parked during their service. It's a sad, but ever-growing happening in small towns around here.

This is not my proudest work, but in defense, I was driving when I shot this, and the weather outside was gloomy & gray

@tchudson

The town streets look beautiful with that winter covering.

I'll bet that church has a lot of attachment for you. Laying down of roots is a lot of what a small town is about.

Very interesting set, TC. Your first shot has some great lines in it, curving down to La Veta and then curving out from the other side of town leading toward the mountain and your other shots are very nice, also. I like the snow falling in front of the buildings on your third and the red and white colors on your last. Colorado is such a pretty place.

Default Walton County Historic Courthouse.

These are some shots of the Walton County Historic Courthouse. It's located in the heart of Monroe, Georgia. It was built in 1883, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Walton County is named after George Walton one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence from the state of Georgia. Because of growth in the county, a new courthouse has been built in another location, which is why it is called the historic courthouse. It is difficult to shoot because of huge oak trees surrounding the grounds.

Thanks all. fstopMike, I took that first shot on my Canon G2 a couple of years ago. Been trying to replicate it on my EOS XSi so that I can make bigger print from it, but haven't got the conditions quite the same again.

These are from a small town, Hornburg, in Northern Germany.

We were chasing family history - my wife's parents met there during WW2.

(1) Love the contrast between old & modern.
Old_N_New

(2) That's my wife on the left - she is checking an address on some paper work from 1944.

(3) A pharmacy. The building is dated 1609.

Thanks for looking.
