My last one for In the City and for a little bit. Need to take care of my school priorities.

In the City #12

Since I'm finished with the 'In the City' assignment, can people please choose their favorite out of my group? I may be slow to respond as I need to pay attention to papers and the like. Ugh. Here is the link to that assignment.

I 'cheated' on this one. This isn't an actual entry, unless you include animal portraits. Siergey wouldn't let me get any closer.

Siergey and his family are the only portrait's I'd be able to take. I typically don't see people during the day and I take my classes at night, so no natural light there.

A portrait is a portait , naturally lit , I'd say this counts just fine or I'm in trouble today too !!!

I started this exact assignment on February 11, 2009 and haven't missed a day yet! Yesterday's Easter photo will go up today.

Here are the rules I've created for my own participation in this:

Photo has to be taken on the day-of, no uploading a photo from a previous day

Photo has to be of technical merit, compositionally of interest, or the exploration of a new technique.

Photos should attempt to cover a wide range of topics (objects, people, landscapes, animals, etc)

I can use ANY camera I choose (Iphone, Canon Powershot G9, Kodak DX7590 or Canon 30d). I am forcing myself to bring my "lesser" cameras and not always shoot with my SLR.

That's pretty much it. It's tough to find something to shoot everyday that's different from a previous day, but I think that's become part of the fun. I can also say it has forced me to take my camera with me everyday, just about everywhere, and I've gotten shots I never would have gotten if I didn't commit to bringing a camera with me just about everywhere I go. I used to think it would be inconvenient, but now, I can't imagine not having the opportunity to take photos when photos opps present themselves.

Here's my gallery, and again, I started on Feb 11, 2009 and haven't missed one yet.

So, in short, I'm with you!

When you say exact assignment , do you mean you've been following the theme for the DPS assignments ?

There may be some questions about using animal portraits for this week's assignment. Human portraits are preferred, but I understand willing subjects are not always available. If using an animal for your subject lets you practice using natural light, go for it.

Thanks, Saralonde...good to know. The only human subject I have near and dear to photograph is my spouse who is, shall we say, a rather hostile participant -- I don't want to risk my camera being hit by a flying heavy object.

Plus, I am trying to develop my worth as a pet portrait photographer, so it makes sense to use this assignment to further that goal.
