After three months of winter, I have been getting a heavy dose of spring fever. Last week it snowed, this week it has been raining.
It is easy to see photos of other places and wish for the opportunity to travel there and take some pictures, especially when they are photos of warm sunny beaches. This is the start of my “Home Town Challenge.” Instead of planning a day or weekend trip to a different area, this is a challenge to stay in your home town. Take pictures of the places you drive by every day without giving a second glance. Visit a part of town you haven’t been to in years. Rule #1: Stay within 5 miles of your home. Rule #2: No tourist attraction hot spots. If you live a block away from the Empire State Building, don't take the easy shot. Take a picture of the forgotten things surrounding the building. This is a shot of a cemetery I drive by every day when I take my children to school. Now it is your turn. Show me some pictures of your home town. Audra

This was taken at a local lake close to where I live. I've driven past the road to the lake many times over the past 20 years, but have only been to the lake maybe five times. As I was driving home one evening, I decided to stop. I'm glad I did because I got several shots that I really liked. The lighting on the sand and trees in this photo made it one of my favorite shots from that night.
I've been back there several times since then!

![]() Not a forgotten area, but between 2 to 3 miles from my home. This is part of an old railroad trestle....there is no longer a track at either end, but the five arches remain to this day. A historian in town said when they plumbed it, it was within 1/8th of an inch (if I remember correctly) and this from the days when they had no equipment for that.
