Here is my take on it
adjusted saturation, added a filter, upped the exposure a little

Each step is created on a new layer. This was a lot of trial and error so will try not to miss anything. Cropped and mirrored. Applied red filter. Applied rotating mirror filter. selected area around the little pond and moved it over. Applied a slight fog. Lighting was using Alien Skin plug in. Duplicated and flipped. added diffuse glow filter. Fractalious plug in and lowered opacity

I'd do something very simple, like a creative crop to lose some extraneous detail and frame the shot

Separated earth and sky in two diferent layers, bightened the sky a little to bring more detail, darkened the sky, painted the galaxies with the brush as a straight line, then used "dissolve" (not sure if its the real name, my PS is in Portuguese) to create the spirals. Then, applied that filter that mimicks a painting to the sky. Finally, gave the earth a purple tint. It was a lot of trial and error, but i think that it's how it happened.

My inspiration was Van Gogh's The Starry Night

My first time doing a WWYD (:

WWYD NO86

How I did it on Paint.NET
1. I cropped it to get rid of part of the field.
2. Created a new layer and with a navy coloured paintbrush I coloured in the whole layer.
3. On Layer Properties changed the mode to Colour dodge.
4. On first layer changed the saturation slightly and then adjested Levels slightly

Default My first post

(As you can see by the number beside my name!)

This was interesting because I give my photo students the same kind of task. So here it is:

In my mind, the sky needed dramaticising. But I've also been experimenting with desaturating most of a photo with adjustment layers and masks, so that's what I did with the foreground. Extra saturated colours up in the sky, and monochrome trees and reeds. And increased contrast.

I didn't want the photo to look unreal, so I didn't lighten up the treeline or reeds much. I could have spent more time and effort being more precise int eh reintroducing of colours, so this is just a proof of concept.

After over all brighting and adjusting the exposure in CS4 I moved to Corel painter and came up with these two. I couldn't decide which one I like best.

Pastel

pastel

And Colored Pencil

colored pencil
