Well we now have at least one shot of everything, and some seems some of the shots have gotten some decent feedback. As for whether they are making dull things interesting is up to everyone to decide. Myself? I'm not convinced, all of the shots have certainly gone beyond the point and press snapshot but I wouldn't be putting them on my wall either, just not quite interesting enough.

Sorry Nathan but the corridor is probably still up for grabs as well.

So should we carry on finding boring things to test our interstingness skills? Its up to you, the next person to post in this tread should link to a new thread they have created asking for 4 more intersting pictures of dull things. I may even join in this time. This thread can continue to be used to post interesting examples of the four original subjects.

A coin
A house brick
A garden shed
An office corridor

I tried my hand at the coin after seeing jiminy clickit's take on it. I liked it so much I wanted to try it. It is harder then it looks, but I was pleased with my version.

As I said Ho-hum! Difficult to make a corridor interesting if there is nothing inherently interesting in it. Mind you spooky is OK?

Yeah I know. I suppose that is my point though! I'm sure someone can do it with a bunch of remote flashes though.

Just an idea for the coin subject : a hand tossing a coin and a strobe light allowing you to freeze the coin along its fly, probably better on a dark background but maybe doable even outdoors.

I just spent a few minutes trying to get a good photo of the coin rotating on my desk and it isn't an easy task, so you'll have to find a patient and dexterous hand to help you out for this one. But I think it could make a -somewhat- interesting shot, don't you think so fletch? (I don't have a patient hand to help me out on this one, so I'll have to let someone else give it a try.)

If your issue is the coin moving away from your focus point, you could use something concave (a dish, maybe) to force the thing to stay in the lower spot. That way you could focus on that spot before hand and just click when the coin is rotating... this would even give you the time to set up the right light.

This was pretty boring until I made it a sepia toned shot, does it still bore you?

This is the corridor of an office building. Does it count? And is it interesting enough?
