Default What Would You Do (#82)

Nicole's not here this week, but she left me with all the info I need to put up this week's WWYD.
This week's picture is from Something Cheeky:

Here's a link to the larger version:
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1173/...02f0aaef_o.jpg

As usual, the game follows some very, very simple rules. Use the photo in this post. Edit it, then come back and show us what you did and tell us how you got there so that we can learn from your experience. It doesn't matter whether you use Picnik, Picasa, Photoshop, you can participate as long as you have something to edit the shot with.

If you would like one of your pictures to be featured in one of these WWYD threads, simply drop Nicole a PM with a link to the medium and large version of the photo.

Now, let's see what you would do!

First thing i always do is to duplicate the image. Sharpened it to about 300% and then changed the blend mode to overlay. That looked ok but not enough so duplicated it again and changed the blend mode to overlay. This was a bit too much so lowered the opacity to about 75%. Next I converted to greyscale and then used levels to change the dark/light areas to what I wanted. Merged all layers and duplicated them again. Filled the 2nd layer with black. erased around the face and areas I wanted to show. Mostly used a 0% hardness except for the areas that needed to be sharp. I used the pick took and picked out a color on her face and set my paint brush to 10% opacity and painted over the area that was shiny. Applied a vignette and merged all layers.

This was a fun one! I always love experimenting with portraits, especially if they are not portraits of myself (I completed a 365 self portrait project a few months ago ).

What you would do #82 (edit)

What I did (in PSP Photo X2):
-Cropped
-RGB Curves adjustment (basically lightened, increased contrast, reduced red, increased green & blue)
-Unsharp mask (strength 40)
-Shadows/Highlights adjustment
-Cloned out a couple of skin blemishes

Beautiful model by the way!

What Would You Do #82

Here how I did it:
Created levels layer, but didn't change anything except for the blending mode: Screen.
Flattened image.
Created new adjustment layer: Channel mixer, and used it to convert to black and white using the red channel.
Changed blending mode of the bw layer to Overlay. It became colorful with high contrast.
Added a vignette.

Obviously, it was all done after I changed canvas size and pasted another copy on her left, then rotated it to create the mirror effect...

Oh... I forgot to say that I also used LAB sharpening...

Default Cameo...

this photo just looked like a cameo to me and so I attempted to transform it into one.

wwyd82

As always I work in layers..

The usual levels and curve adjustments a little over done to bring out greater contrast and smoothness to the face. Copied the red chanel and pasted into a new layer changing the blending mode to overlay. This reduced the color intensity. Repeated once more to intensify the image and lowered the opacity to taste. Merged layers.

New larger canvas with background color. Copied image onto new canvas. Created frame on a new layer using frame shape. Placed frame into position over image. Selected frame, inversed selection, highlighted image layer and deleted everything that extended beyond the frame.

'What Woudld You Do - Digital Photography School Assignment

I cropped it, then created 3 layers, on the lowest I made the eyes green and the mouth red. The middle layer I modified with Topas DeNoise to get a smooth look of the skin. Then I filled the top layer with the colour of the hair and set it on 60% opacity.

I hope Something Cheeky likes it ...

I desaturated it, cropped a little, added a canvas background, filtered the black around the frame.

What Would You Do? #82

Went a little overboard, but it was fun!

12 layers.
Levels, then duplicated layer and equalized it. Set opacity to 30% and blend mode to soft light.
Eye contrast with an adjustment layer.
Posterized a copeied layer for the green gradient in the background to split colors into solids.
White layer with low opacity, masked with splatter brushes around face. Also has a floral pattern brush stamped out on face.
Layer with the 3 stripes. Masked with splatter brushes. Created with pen tool, and bent with warp transform.
Layer with 2 stripes on right, also masked with splatter brushes. Created same as before.
3 text layers, with opacities lowered. A few different sizes, weights, and kerning.
Textured paper layer, lowered opacity, and masked with splatter brushes on face.
2 layers of fleur de lis patterns made from ornament text that I rasterized, set to overlay. Also masked with splatter brushes.

I think that's the gist of it...

Default Nip/Tuck

Love the nose, pose, and clothes. Just a little change of profile:

WWYD82X

- Mirrored (flipped left for right) image, cropped for eye position
- Copied for second layer, Normal (None) Mode 100 Opacity
- Selected loosely around eye, and below nose to jawline. Copied/pasted
- Slightly enlarged both, blending edges. Merged with second layer
- Added third copy for a blurring layer Normal (None) Mode 30% Opacity
- Erased through third layer to show eye, nose, mouth and chin unblurred
- Added fourth layer dark vignette to feature face
