Okay, I wanted to try this assignment but I forgot a major step

I used some blur, brightened the photo a little and used Selective Color on her shirt. I have no idea what I did to make her brighter though. It happened while I was playing around with settings and I forgot to check what tool I used. I'm really sorry. :-( If anyone knows what I might have done please tell me, I really like the effect.

I added a number of adjustment layers: a black and white layer, a brightness/contrast layer (raised brightness, slightly more contrast), and a colour adjustment layer, to split tone it with blue shadows and yellow highlights (with the preserve luminance button UNTICKED). Also a lens correction to remove the slight vignette (which is unusual for me!).

I added a border, and then finally I also applied a gaussian blur to the outer edges of the image, to draw attention to the centre.

This is my first WWYD, so I hope you like it.

This is the first time I have this challenge. I experimented with some filters cause I've never done that before. I was too lazy for that.

I first created Smart Object so I can have filters in stack and could make them later, and change their positions.

On the final shot I'm presenting here I first used Glowing Edges with low Edge Width and Smoothness and higher Edge Brightness. That gave this photo negative-like look. Then I found Lighting Effects and used Omni light and had a little fun with settings.
Finally I putted Lens Flare like for 105mm lens and pushed it down a little bit.

The final result is:

What would you do? #82

I'd like to see some comments, either here or on Flickr.

Thanks
JD

Here's my humble contribution.

WWYD # 82

-Cropped the picture
- Fixed the skin's imperfections and,
- Smoothed the skin
-Enlightened the background
-Converted the composition into B&W
-Played a bit with:
- The levels
- the contrast
- Clarity
- Sharpened
and at last, White-Framed and applied the lettering

PS: The effects are better seen in its LARGER version

I used Picnik
1. Cropped a little
2. Exposure-Autofix, then set exposure to 6 and contrast to 6
3. Softenend-used tool to undo around face
4. Applied Orton-ish effect (bloom to 17%, brightness to 52%, fade to 11%)
5. Converted to Black and White
6. Used Shine Be Gone tool around cheek area
7. Used Circle Splash effect, overlay mode, radius to 300
And I got this:

I'm really enjoying these posts because I'm brand new to Photoshop and its making me learn a lot. Its a lot a fun The positioning of the girl in this one reminded me of the egyptian drawings.

So what I did was first I turned the original picture to a sketch by following these directions: http://www.photoshopsupport.com/tuto...to-sketch.html and then I traced around her face and body. Added a layer and whited out her hair. Then I played with the hue/saturation to get it the right color. Then I painted her dress a different color, painted her eye and then filled in all the colors. I then added a background layer and used the craquelure texture filter and then rendered a spotlight effect. I know I didn't explain that very well, but its because I don't know exactly what I'm doing and have been mostly doing it by trial and error!
